Philanthropy

‘’I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.’’Albert Schweitzer

Thadeka has founded a small not-for-profit organization that does book drives, educational events and food drives, as she strives with many others to create better outcomes for children and universal access to education. Thandeka has striven in the broadcasting space to ensure that the Reithian model of Public Broadcasting is upheld. This advocate for independence from commercial vested interests and state interference. The Reithian model stands for a public broadcaster that is vast enough to provide universal access to the airwaves. It views public broadcasting as a public good that every citizen has a right to. It also views public broadcasting as a national asset to promote better-informed citizenry and national educational outcomes and thus bridge the information, digital and educational gaps between the haves and have-nots in our society. South Africa is one of the most unequal societies in the world. Thandeka strives in small ways to build bridges of understanding and social cohesion.
